 Lobstermen: Stand up, start counting
From a monthly newsletter by the Maine Department of Marine Resources

Commercial Fisheries News is published monthly; annual subscriptions are $21.95.     HALLOWELL, ME - Nearly 100 Thistle Marine electronic logbooks have been distributed to participating fishermen to date. We have 25 units remaining to be assigned to fishermen. If you are interested obtaining one of these units please contact me directly.
The DMR is investigating ways to encourage installation of existing units that are currently not "plugged in" and to cover the monthly service fees incurred by fishermen.
This is an exciting program that puts fishermen in the driver's seat for data collection and future research and stock assessment projects. If you are frustrated with science missing the "complete" picture of your industry, call and get involved.
For more info, contact DMR chief lobster biologist Carl Wilson at (207) 633-9538 or e-mail carl.wilson@state.me.us.
